Debutant director Danish Aslam was not interested in telling another run of the mill love story and so he decided to explore space issues in relationships in his forthcoming film “Break Ke Baad”. “Space is a word that is used a lot in a modern relationship. It’s almost a break up mantra.
I wanted to explore that concept rather than a conventional love story where two people don’t know each other, meet and fall in love,” Aslam told IANS. “I wanted to show what happens to two people, who have known each other for their entire life, if their relationship breaks. I found the concept more exciting than just writing run-of-the-mill love story.” The basic premise of the multi-layered plot is romance and it is through Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone that the director will tell his story on celluloid. It is scheduled for a Nov 26 release.
“It has got three different layers actually. One is a simple story about a relationship between two people and what happens when there is a problem in their relationship. “The other layers are a coming-of age story where these two characters feel claustrophobic within the family bindings as everyone wants them to get married. Then they move to Australia where they live independently,” said Aslam. After working as an assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker in “Swades” (2004), Siddharth Anand in “Salaam Namaste” (2005) and Kunal Kohli in “Fanaa” (2006), he couldn’t stop himself from making a love story. “I wrote the story two and a half years ago. I knew that I wanted to make an urban love story. I wanted to make a movie that I could relate to… I have also worked as an assistant to directors like Kunal and Siddharth who have made films of different genres. The choice of genre came from there and I liked the concept,” said Aslam.
“It’s a very commercially viable film, but that’s not intended. I didn’t want to make a very intense film,” he added. Aslam says he doesn’t believe in penning a story keeping the lead actors in mind. “I don’t believe in writing for any particular person or any particular actor because I think that limits you in your story telling. When you write a story and if you have an actor in mind, you tend to see from that actor’s perspective whether he would be able to do that. That draws a limitation. I finished the story and only after that we started thinking who can actually fit the script,” said Aslam. Aslam says Imran portrayed the role easily as he portrayed his original self but Deepika had to push herself because personally she doesn’t believe in escaping a relationship. “Imran is not acting in the film, he is just being himself. He is a diehard romantic and believes in commitment. In real life too, he is committed for a very long time and that is what he is actually playing in the film.
“As far as Deepika goes, I like the spontaneity of an actor that she brings to her character. She is playing a person who is experimental, wants to see the world and doesn’t believe in commitment. Deepika had to do a lot more because she doesn’t believe in that philosophy in real life,” said Aslam. Talking about the genre of the film, he said: “I personally have a big problem with the genre definition. I don’t understand how films are defined on the basis of genres. There are lots of movies, which I don’t know which genre to put it in. Imran defined it as romantic, coming-of-age comedy. I think that’s the genre we are going to stick to.” He also denied that his film is a tribute to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. “There is no tribute to anybody. There is one shot in the movie where Imran does that ‘Main Hoon Na’ Shah Rukh move. That is it,” said Aslam.

Reason? Well, the reason for her emotional outburst was her gruelling schedule. Vidya has been burning midnight oil to dub for ‘No one Killed Jessica’ as the film is due for a January release. Besides, her daytime is eaten up by her shooting which is going on at high speed.
For the last 3 months, her schedule has been extremely hectic with not a minute of relief. Stress has taken a toll on her body and that’s precisely why her tears vented out earlier this week leaving all (including herself) shell shocked.
This is a harsh reminder of the price the celebs have to pay to reach to the zenith of fame. And we always envied their popularity and big money! Didn’t we?

Why Deepika Padukone as Heer onto Shahid Kapoor’s laps!: Ex of Kareena Kapoor and the present of Priyanka Chopra chocolate actor Shahid Kapoor has landed himself onto the lap of the leggy bimbo Deepika Padukone. Of course, they are not dating. It’s all for a film’s cause.
Director Sabbir Khan is making the rom com ‘Heer and Ranjha’ and he has roped in the vivacious Deepika Padukone for the role of Heer. Shahid had already been pulled in to do the honours for Ranjha.
Reasons why Deepika has been cast for Heer:
1. Sabbir was looking for someone who was young and dynamic and Deepika fitted the bill perfectly.
2. Besides, Deepika is also a tad vulnerable with her share of emotional depth; something that was required for her character.
3. Sabbir highly rates Deepika and considers her the finest actress of the new generation.
4. Besides, the pairing of Deepika and Shahid would be the first of such kind and is bound to trigger some interest.
5. And Deepika is not only a good actress but is also endowed with an unearthly beauty which makes her screen presence a riveting one.
The film, however, is some months away and would only go on floors in April, 2011.

Break Ke Baad Movie Ready to release on November 26, 2010: The Break Ke Baad official trailer is on the mark: editing is slick, acting is impressive and, most of all, the story comes through as convincing.
The 2m 6sec trailer lays down the plot, and the inherent conflicts, with endearing simplicity.
Most of the footage features Abhay (
Imran Khan) and Aalia (
Deepika Padukone), with their screen mothers, Lilette Dubey and Sharmila Tagore, appearing in a couple of scenes each.
We weren’t as impressed with the first look promotional of the film as we are with the theatrical trailer.
The film releases on November 26, 2010.

Deepika’s role as similar as Ranbir Kapoor?: She signed the film Break Ke Baad when she was losing her love. Now it turns out that Deepika Padukone’s character in the film has similarities with her ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.
When the actress heard the narration from director Danish Aslam, she was initially stunned and then in a dilemma whether to sign the film or not.
Deepika plays Aalia, a gal who is commitment phobic. Apparently, Ranbir too is known to stay away from commitment. When Deepika learnt about her character, it was déjà vu; and when it came to emotional scenes it was a bit difficult for her to shoot.
As a source tells a daily, “Knowingly or unknowingly, she has added some nuances to her character in the film that are straight out of her past love affair with Ranbir.”
Break Ke Baad promos are getting good response from the audience and Imran Khan-Deepika look promising as a lovey-dovey couple. The film, produced by Kunal Kohli, is releasing on 26 November.

Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as Heer And Ranjha: After having cast the teenage heartthrob Shahid Kapoor as the ‘Ranjha’ in his next film titled Heer And Ranjha, director Sabbir Khan has pulled off a casting coup by roping in Deepika Padukone as ‘Heer’.
Sabbir said, “Once I finished scripting, I felt that the Heer’s part needed somebody, who is young and dynamic, as it’s totally an author-backed role. At the same time, that person should have vulnerability as well as emotional depth. With so much in mind, I just couldn’t see anybody beyond Deepika for the role, as I feel that she is one of the finest female actors among the Gen-Next’s brigade.”
Sabbir also added, “Casting this pair together was due to the fact that, this was one pair, which was everybody’s unanimous decision. To have Deepika as Heer and Shahid as Ranjha, the film is nothing short of being fantastic. Everybody is excited to see the pair together!”
Since it’s a romantic story being retold, music will play prominence in the film. Talking about the music of Heer And Ranjha, Sabbir reveals, “Music is indeed a very integral part of this film. And I am so very happy to have Pritam on board for it. There are 6 songs in the film. The core of the music will be romance… Music that will depict that it’s a love story, at the same time it’ll be contemporary. The music of this film will surely have lots of soul with a lot of modernity.”
The shooting of Heer And Ranjha will begin in April 2011.

Khit Pit between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya?: In one of the recent events attended by Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya, all eyes were glued to Siddharth, and it was not just because of the beautiful Deepika who was accompanying him.
The event was a charity auction organised by actor Rahul Bose, who is also a sportsman, and in the auction one of the items was Deepika’a father Prakash Padukone’s medals. The Mallya scion was expected to bid for those medals. The public thought so for obvious reasons; moreover, bidding is very much a Mallya style.
Alas, Siddharth didn’t! As a source tells a daily, “We were sorely disappointed that Siddharth made no attempt to buy Deepika’s dad’s medal. It was picked up by a stranger.”

Deepika Padukone ‘RK’ tattoo: Deepika Padukone has no qualms in continuing to keep the ‘RK’ tattoo that is imprinted on the back of her neck, though her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor ended last year.
A few months back, there was buzz that Deepika is planning to remove the tattoo through laser. During the shoot of the third season of ‘Koffee with Karan’, Deepika has confessed that no matter what, she will not get rid of the tattoo, a sign of love and commitment.
