The Avengers announces crew call
A much discussed topic of controversy has been where, exactly, director Joss Whedon plans to shoot his mammoth Marvel Comics undertaking The Avengers. The storyline has always been set in and around New York City. But in November, it was discovered that Marvel Studios was moving the production to Los Angeles to save money, both on location shooting and the housing of actors (as most of them live in that area).
Then, in mid-December, it was announced that the production would actually be moving to New Mexico to take advantage of the state’s 25% rebate program, as well as other tax incentives. Hot on the heels of that news, New Mexico governor Susana Martinez vowed to curb state government spending by cutting the 25% rebate back to 15%. This would make shooting in the state pointless, as many other available locations have offered a better deal to the penny-pinching Marvel Studios.
Even with the threat of this tax incentive being reduced, and the budget being increased, Marvel Studios has officially decided to stay in the state of New Mexico, and over the weekend announced the The Avengers: Assemble crew call.
The ensemble epic will begin filming in April of this year, and if you are a local crewmember, Marvel Studio wants to see your credentials. This will be the biggest production ever filmed in Albuquerque. To apply, here are the instructions:
Crew resumes can be submitted to:

The Avengers will not ditch its New York City-based storyline. While most of the action will be shot against green screen, Marvel will also be location shooting in and around New York City, as well as Michigan.
The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
